Music

Music students participating in Charity Arts Night reflected on how they personally connected to the service, in particular with the children in South Sudan, and chose songs that they felt were meaningful. Music student groups, similarly, will perform songs that connect to the theme.

Theatre

The two theatre pieces performed on Charity Arts Night were chosen after much thought about which plays could bring out the significance of helping the children in South Sudan. From the beginning to the end of the process, the director, Lily, and theatre students involved, kept the students in La Salle Secondary School in mind.

Nicole Sakellariou and Leah Randhawa from Grade 9 will perform a duologue from Kindertransport, a play about a young Jewish girl who was adopted by an English woman as a means to escape the persecution of the Nazi regime. Sophie Du Toit from Grade 11 will perform a monologue from Things I Know to Be True, which centres around the strength of family relationships and how the loss of one family member can deeply affect everyone.

"I hope after watching these performances, everyone can reflect on their meaning to La Salle Secondary School, and their connection to the spirit of charity." - Lily Updike, Director, Grade 11
