Look up
Watching the sun rise and set is somewhat of a luxury. The idea of getting up or staying out purely to watch the sun peek over and dip under the horizon is something that I’m sure many people enjoy doing as a relaxing activity. However such a simple activity makes us so detached from many people in third world countries and in this case, the people of South Sudan. The children wake up in the early hours of the morning to be able to walk to school, the thought of appreciating these early waking hours is slightly comedic in this context. Therefore I chose to make this piece as a reminder to myself and to everyone to look up physically and metaphorically to be reminded of the lives we are blessed with and for to look upwards for the future of the children leading such lives as those in South Sudan.
